Site Description
A mountain with four deep gorges. The slopes are dominated by Abies forest, with many open meadows. Forestry is confined to the area outside the National Park.

Habitats: Coastline/rocky areas (7%, Inland cliffs), Forest (70%, Native coniferous woodland), Grassland (23%, Alpine, subalpine and boreal grassland; Mesophile grasslands), Shrubland (12%, Sclerophyllous scrub, garrigue and maquis)

Land use: agriculture (70%), forestry (20%)

7,210 ha of IBA covered by National Park (Mount Oiti, 7,210 ha). Part of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Oitis-Paulianis, 2,950 ha). 960 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Frantzi-Dio Vounon, 960 ha). 3,010 ha of IBA covered by Biogenetic Reserve (Council of Europe) (Ethnikos Drymos Oitis (Core area), 3,010 ha).
13088 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) ETHNIKOS DRYMOS OITIS - KOILADA ASOPOU(GR2440006).

The site is important for forest species, and species associated with open montane habitat.

Conservation issues
The main threats are from tourism and hunting. A management plan for the National Park is under preparation. Part of the area is a candidate SAC.
