Site Description
A large freshwater lake with extensive reedbeds ( Phragmites ).

Habitats: Artificial landscapes (10%, Arable land; Other urban and industrial areas), Wetland (90%, Standing freshwater; Water fringe vegetation)

Land use: agriculture (5%), fisheries/aquaculture (90%), urban/industrial/transport (5%), water management (90%)

Protection status
National None International None
2690 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) LIMNI IOANNINON(GR2130005).

This is an important site for wintering ducks (Anatidae) and breeding species associated with reedbeds. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Phalacrocorax pygmeus (wintering), Aythya nyroca (breeding).
