Site Description
The IBA includes the city of Ioannina and the surrounding arable land and hills.

Habitats: Artificial landscapes (90%, Arable land; Forestry plantations; Other urban and industrial areas), Shrubland (10%, Sclerophyllous scrub, garrigue and maquis)

Land use: agriculture (85%), unknown (10%), urban/industrial/transport (5%)

The site is important for species associated with arable agriculture.

Conservation issues
The main threat is the intensification of agriculture. The demolition of old buildings is a particular threat to Falco naumanni (`Other' threats).
